What Is in the Update?

The key emphasis of this update is to improve device security by incorporating the March 2025 Security Maintenance Release (SMR). The SMR resolves more than 50 vulnerabilities, 11 of which are critical, thus improving the overall security mechanism of the Galaxy S25 series.

No New Features Introduced

It’s interesting to note that although the update package itself is huge at around 577MB for the Ultra model, it doesn’t add new features that users perceive. In particular, optimization of recent One UI 7 beta updates, like the newer charging animation and inclusion of the media player in the notification panel, are not part of this roll-out. Both features have already been present in beta updates on other Galaxy phones but have not yet been activated on the Galaxy S25 series.

One UI 7 Beta Brings User Feedback

Users who have taken part in the beta testing of the One UI 7 have had varied experiences with the new features. Some have experienced inconsistencies in UI objects and animations, like media player actions and charging animation, that show testing of new functionality but still require polishing to be rolled out as stable.

How to Update Your Galaxy S25

To make sure your phone is running the most recent security patches, it’s best to update the phone immediately. You can do this by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install on your Galaxy S25. Alternatively, the most recent firmware can be downloaded from official websites and installed via a Windows PC.
