If you own GTA V on PC you will now have access to a newer version of the game free of charge which will feature ray tracing support through shadows and reflections. More importantly, there’s official NVIDIA DLSS 3 support, as well as FSR 1 and FSR 3 (no mention of specific versions though). The game will also take advantage of DirectStorage technology, as well as improvements for high resolution, higher aspect ratio, and higher frame rates.
The upgraded version will appear as a separate game, meaning that it will not be possible to play with other gamers on the previous release. However, Rockstar intends to fully support the older game and will continue to work on that version for gamers who cannot or will not upgrade for whatever reason.
The new features are as follows:
• Ray tracing features only available on PC such as ambient occlusion and global illumination – plus ray traced shadows and reflections first debuted on consoles.
• Support for AMD FSR1 and FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3.
• Faster loading times using SSD and DirectStorage on supported devices and configurations.
• Enhanced support for higher resolutions, higher aspect ratios, and higher frame rates.
• DualSense® controller support, with adaptive triggers.
• Enhanced audio with support for Dolby Atmos and improved fidelity of speech, cinematics, and music.
• There are also going to be new vehicles added along with more wildlife all over San Andreas and also a new landing page for GTA Online.

Players must ensure that their computers meet the new requirements in order to fully enjoy the new features. For players whose hardware does not meet the new requirements, the game will still support the previous version. It’s important to note that GTA Online’s original and new versions will be two separate instances, and users of other versions won’t be able to join the same sessions.
With anticipation building for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI later this year 2025, this significant update is made available. Rockstar Games ensures new and existing players have an improved experience leading up to the next installment in the series by updating GTA V with modern features.
