No Mod Support on GTA 5 Enhanced PC, Players Furious

The GTA 5 Enhanced update for PC is finally here, and let’s be honest it’s been a massive disappointment. Instead of exciting upgrades, players are met with broken mods, minimal visual improvements, and some baffling changes that no one really asked for.

Whether you’re a hardcore modder or just a casual player, this update feels like a step backward.

UPDATE: Script hook has been updated to support GTA 5 Enhanced while we still wait for OpenIV update

Mods Are Completely Broken

For over 10 years, GTA 5’s modding community has kept the game alive with insane graphics overhauls, custom vehicles, and crazy new experiences. But with this update, Rockstar has completely shut down mod support. They changed the game’s executable from GTA5.exe to GTA5_Enhanced.exe, which means essential tools like OpenIV and Script Hook V can’t recognize the game.

Even if you try renaming the file, OpenIV 4.1 won’t let you use the mods folder, and any tweaks to game files will straight-up prevent the game from launching. This means legendary mods like LSPD:FR, Redux, and NaturalVision Evolved are all useless unless someone finds a workaround.

For a game that owes much of its longevity to modding, this move feels like a slap in the face.

So, What’s Actually “Enhanced”? Not Much.

If you thought Rockstar would at least make the game look significantly better, prepare to be disappointed. Unless you have a high-end GPU and turn on ray tracing, you probably won’t notice much of a difference.

Players have reported that textures, lighting, and overall visuals look almost identical to the previous version. And to make matters worse, Rockstar didn’t include Frame Generation or Ray Reconstruction, two features that could have made a real impact on performance and quality.

So, if you’re playing without ray tracing, this update feels like a whole lot of nothing.

No More Online Chat? Seriously?

For some reason, Rockstar removed text chat from GTA Online. Sure, online chat can get toxic, but removing it completely just makes communication way harder, especially in public lobbies where players relied on it to coordinate. Instead of fixing the issue with better moderation tools, Rockstar just took away an important feature.

Combine this with new bugs and performance issues, and this so-called “Enhanced” edition is looking like more of a downgrade.

The GTA Community is Furious

As expected, players are not happy. Social media and forums are filled with complaints, with many wondering if Rockstar is deliberately trying to kill off modding once and for all. Instead of breathing new life into the game, this update has alienated a huge portion of the player base.

Is There Any Fix?

Right now, there’s no solid way to get mods working in the Enhanced version. Unless Rockstar changes their stance or the community finds a workaround, modding GTA 5 might be coming to an unfortunate end.
